Learned something very interesting today about "times in the desert"...

From Isaiah 54 : 1 - 3

The summary of the lesson is that when we go through times when it seems like nothing is happening or times that we are not "producing fruit" (or bearing children in the even more literal of the text) that we should "Sing" and "cry out" meaning praise God and shout for joy!

I find myself asking... eh? Say what? ... why would I feel like praising God for nothing that is happening in my life? Why must I do the opposite of what is currently happening??!

So the first thing is, after looking at my thoughts, is that I'm so self-centered.

The second thing is that people sing, shout and praise God during the good times, so what does that mean when we are told to sing, shout and praise God during the bad times?
What I gather is that it means that we should reveal our faith and trust in God by doing that which we would be doing when God comes through.

Hence, God will provide and make you "un-barren" (fruitful) especially when you are joyous before Him during the barren or empty times because you trust and believe that all will be provided.

So the key word to the "why?" is faith!

Isaiah 54:1-3 (New King James Version)

Isaiah 54

A Perpetual Covenant of Peace
1 “Sing, O barren,
You
who have not borne!
Break forth into singing, and cry aloud,
You
who have not labored with child!
For more
are the children of the desolate
Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.
2 “ Enlarge the place of your tent,
And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare;
Lengthen your cords,
And strengthen your stakes.
3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left,
And your descendants will inherit the nations,
And make the desolate cities inhabited.
